As you probably know, my diagnosis inspired me to become a student of my well-being. It led me back into the kitchen and back to school. I hit the books, and have been studying ever since. Though I wish we could burst into this bright world with an owner's manual, for the most part we have to figure out how to feel good in the skin we're in all on our own... and that's a good thing.
In the beginning, I read every book about holistic nutrition (which was truly helpful), but my gut told me that I also needed structure and community. At the time, there were only a couple of certifications that resonated with my philosophy, but nothing was in one place. As a result, I had to take many different programs to piece together what I needed.
Though I eventually found the right path for me, I wasted time and money with a few detours. Ultimately I was able to surround myself with people who wanted to thrive, teachers who were dedicated to my well-being and ideas that totally excited me.
